WATER PROJECTS

PROVISION OF THREE (3) HAND -OPERATED WATER BOREHOLES IN KODAYI COMMUNITY,
NEW KARU LGA, NASARAWA STATE, NIGERIA.
Kodayi Community is situated at New Karu Local Government Area, Nasarawa State. It is located about 50 kilometers from Nigeria’s capital, Abuja. There are over 500 inhabitants in Kodayi and the community is without clean drinking water. The sources of water for the inhabitants to drink are from dirty ponds, streams and wells.
The ponds that serve as a source of drinking water for Kodayi community are polluted and infested with rain water run-off and from animals that also drink from it. This results into diseases and infections in the community. They have no option but to still drink from the dirty water bodies.
As a result of the distress calls regarding this devastating situation, Arm of Hope Foundation has succeeded in sinking and commissioning Two (2) water boreholes to alleviate the suffering of the inhabitants. Drilling a borehole in the Northern part of Nigeria is an expensive venture as it costs about five (5) times the cost of drilling in other parts of Nigeria because of the soil type and terrain.
However, there is still the need to sink more boreholes in strategic areas of the community because, due to proximity, people are still drinking from the disease- infested ponds.
Therefore, Kodayi community needs Three (3) more boreholes to solve the drinking water problems and water borne disease outbreaks in the community.
